The aroma of Cedarwood is woody and warm with a slight citrusy and balsamic sweetness. This variety of Cedar tree is native to the Morocco and is a true, traditional cedarwood oil, not Juniperus virginia which is the red cedar that is used commonly for furntiture or closets.

Cedarwood was used by the Egyptians, who used it for skincare and embalming practices because of its ability to preserve. It was originally extracted into a carrier oil until distillation procedures were developed.

Cedarwood is reported to strengthen the spirit, aid in meditation and grounding, calm, and release feelings of anxiousness. Cedarwood can also be used in a carrier oil to relieve dry skin.

Popular uses are in a carrier oil for massage (15 drops per ounce of oil), sprinkled on a tissue for inhalation, or in an aromatherapy diffuser. Because of its unique therapeutic properties I also use this oil in my Be Calm and Detoxifying Grapefruit Products.
